“overwhelmed” from wifflegif

You’re not overworked, despite what it may feel like.

I believe there’s a much simpler answer — and one that will empower you to make the changes you need in order to take back control of your life.

This was my experience in the second half of 2023.

In August, my workload doubled.

I went from working 30 hours a week to 60.

I was trying to run a podcast at the time, write consistently, .

As you can image, I dropped the ball…

I paused the podcast.

I wrote weekly instead of daily.

I was exhausted all the time.

I was sure that I wouldn’t have the energy to what I wanted, if I was working 60 hour weeks…

My Fiance was annoyed because I didn’t have energy to connect with her after a long day of working…

I was starting to see my life in a spiral…

I knew I needed to make a change, but I wasn’t sure what to do…

So out of desperation, I decided I would start drumming once a week.

I know — adding something to an already full schedule seems counter productive. But I had an inclining about this.

You see, I use to be a session drummer.

I would work an 8 hour shift at Starbucks, go home and pack up my drum set, drive to a recording studio and record for 8+ hours, and rive back home to set up my kit and play in order to relax after a 16+ hour day.

So here I am, years later, with this thought…

Maybe my exhaustion isn’t because of what I’m doing, but what I’m NOT doing…

That’s when I committed to going to the studio and practicing, for at least 1 hour once a week.

That’s it.

And guess what?

Nothing happened.

I know, crazy.

2 weeks. 3 weeks. 4 weeks went by. Nothing.

Then somewhere around week 5, I started to notice something.

I started to have a little bit of energy at the end of the day.

I was able to be more present with my Fiance.

The following week, I was able to wake up a little earlier and write — and I’ve been able to keep that up as a daily practice now.

My workload hasn’t gotten easier, but my ability to handle it has.

As my energy increased, I was able to invest my time into more things that increased my energy — like physical activity.

We only know “Over-worked” by it’s symptom — which is a decrease in energy.

If we can fix the decrease in energy, perhapts the “over-worked” feeling will go away.

And that increase in energy will happen when we start prioritizing things we do because we’re passionate about them — not because they’re productive, r because we’re suppose to.

That’s my experience — and why I believe you’re not over-worked, but under-passionate.

If you’re a writer who is struggling to make money, you’re in the right place.

Building a business and being great at writing are two different skills.

I was a session and touring drummer for a decade, and I made $0 because I had no business sense.

Over the last 7 years, I’ve dedicated myself to learning business.

In this time, I started 2 companies (one that did 105k in the first year), helped grow a company from 600k to 1.5MM, I helped sell a company for 3MM+.

And now, I’m here to help other writers make a living doing what they love.

I send out a daily 500 character, 3 bullet point email with business and productivity tips for writers.
