Absolutely Anthony - both is not a bad plan necessarily.
Something I don’t believe I made clear in the article, so I want to clear up here. If I were new and did not have a step-by-step plan to provide a shit-ton of value to the audience after they join the email list (through daily newsletter, free and paid training, business coaching, community, as well as tools and resources), then just running with the partner program is not a bad idea at all. It helps you validate article ideas, your writing style, and when you see money coming in, it helps keep you motivated and keep going.
I have a unique opportunity because I’m the operations manager of Capitalism.com, so I’m immersed in business every day. Given my experience, I have a very clear path on how I can writers make money writing.
That’s why I’m using this approach - each email is a human that has a problem that I 100% believe I can solve. And that makes their email significantly more valuable to me than the income from the partner program.
That’s why - for me - reach is a priority here.
It’s not that one is ALWAYS better than the other, necessarily. Life is more nuanced. It depends on where you are in your journey, what your strengths are, and whether you have plan or not.
Hope that helps!
